'Indigo comfort'

I just love the look of these old school sofas, with their curvy bones and charming design. It inspired this piece called 'Indigo comfort'. It's a mixed media piece, illustrated, inks are acid free, includes bits of paper, ribbon and lace, on a book page, of course.

Sunday update

The piece shown in the last post below 'Lovely thing' is in the shop tonight.

We finally got around to Pumpkin picking today, it was alot of fun. The weather was so very warm, it felt more like a summer day. We went on a Haunted hay ride that resulted in lots of tears for my lil chicky. She's a scaredy cat on a regular day. And these guys were crawling up on the hay ride, in your face and with a real-sounding chain saw....geeeez! Next time we'll take the regular hay ride.

But we bought some great pumpkins and cider, and all-in-all it was a fun trip!

Lovely things

I'll share a new piece I worked on this week. It's a mixed media collage. It is called 'LOVELY THINGS' and is inspired by Anthro, as if you couldn't tell. It includes pieces of the catalog, the dress is illustrated, the words lovely are embroidered in. The page is from Shakespeare's Cymbeline.
I had SO much fun with this one! I don't know if I want to give it up.

Hello Monday

Monday... is here and it's soooo chilly out. The weekend was good....

  • We had dinner at a lovely little Italian place to celebrate the In-laws 55th Wedding Anniversary.
  • This Saturday, we had a house full of little girls giggling and playing. I made them some pre-Halloween cupcakes!
  • I finally got to put away the summer clothes....it's nice to be able to see what's in my closet. I just love it. Let's see how long I can keep it that way.
  • I spent some time on my Art! I think I will post a shop update WEDNESDAY evening.

We have a new target opening up in our area.... the Grand Opening was Sunday. I didn't go.
Mostly on purpose, I knew I would be buying things I don't really need.

Good mail day......

Don't you just love a good mail day? Even though I ordered the stuff and know its coming, I still get excited when it's sitting in front of my door, it still feels like a suprise!
So here she is..... my new black apple girl....getting to know her sister ; )
...these lil dolls make me smile every time I see them!

but I must tell you, I am in trouble. Because my lil girl reminded me of how she wants a Black Apple doll with RED hair.... ummm I don't remember that conversation. So now she wants to play with these 2 and I know its silly of me to expect a 4 yr old to resist these lovelies, when I can't even. So I may have to get a red head! for her.

In this next pic, I wanted to show my new target bag! I love it so much, I might go back for different colors. It's perfectly soft, which I love in a bag. I mean soft in that it conforms to your body and doesn't feel like you are carrying a box. I have strange requirements for my bags.
The girls wanted to be in this pic too.

The Blissful......... a must see

I first stumbled upon Abby Kerr, the proprietor, on her blog 'a Boutique Industry' which was designed to speak to other women who have chose a lifestyle of entrepreneurship, or dream of doing so. It's such a great blog, where Abby share's her personal experiences of being a new shop owner with us.

Abby's shop is called 'The Blissful'. In their own words, it is a lifestyle boutique of French -Inspired Finds and furnishings. They are located in Canton, Ohio.

Abby recently launched theblissful.com and it's simply beautiful. I look forward to seeing more beautiful pics of the shop. She will begin online-commerce in Jan 2008.

We all know I'm a huge fan of Anthropologie and the whole vibe, so I love the Blissful even more since it is an independent shop!

Pssstttt...

I did a little Q&A with Kelly Heyboer from Star Ledger and it's posted online now at NJ.com, if you want to peek go here.

We chatted about my two blogs, Craving Anthropologie and this one. I was able to share a little about me, why I started blogging, & mention a few of my favorite bloggers, (sorry I couldn't possibly get you all in.)
I was able to talk about ETSY as the place to shop for all things handmade and my lil shop. Check it out if you like. : )

EDIT: update....I just found out the article will be in Print---in Friday's, Star Ledger on October 26th. So they temporarily disabled the link until then.
